Topshop Makeup Reviews

Stick to what you know Topshop?

Like most of us, I was curious to try Topshop's new makeup line when it hit stores a few weeks ago.  The bright and experimental colours combined with the pocket money prices made it seem to me like the cosmetic equivilent to sweeties!  I admit I didn't have a huge expectation of the brand but I still hoped to be proved wrong.

I purchased:

Lip gloss in Statement ( a bright Coral- Red)
Lipstick in Brighton Rock (fuschia pink)
Nailpolish in Nice'n'Neutral (a pale taupe)

Outlet shopping - Kildare Village

A few weekends ago, my Mum and I visited the Kildare Village (in Kildare funnily enough!) just outside Dublin.

I'm not usually a great fan of outlet shopping, especially outside of America.. we just don't seem to be able to do it right!  So I went with very little expectations and mainly to visit the Petit Bateau outlet.

We seemed to have hit it on a good weekend though and I was pleasently surprised with my purchases.

There was a DKNY store that was having an extra 30% off everything in store.  I really needed a new wallet so I got this lovely patent one, unfortunatley all the bigger ones were sold out, but I just loved the shiny pink!   I couldn't resist the matching makeup bag either... THEN, when I reached the till, the sales assistant showed me a black patent shopper for 20 euro, the handbag I didn't know I needed till I saw it!  Not things I would have noticed normally, but good accessory basics if such a thing exists!  It's nice to have a full set of something for such a good price.

I love the contrast of the patent pink on the patent black.  Matching but not too dull!

Broom Cottage Cleanser Review (local company)

Purusing St. George's Market, Belfast one Saturday morning a couple of months back, I purchased a jar of an all natural cleanser made by a local family business called Broom Cottage.

I love the Saturday morning continental markets for finding such businesses and products (and for all the gorgeous food - gigantic breakfast bap with relish for £3.00!)

I chatted to the man at their stall who told me that he was a beekeeper and his wife made the skincare products that are mostly based around beeswax.  The little glass jar of cleanser was only £5 and he told me it also made a good moisturiser.

Summertime, and the living is easy

My beauty supplies are a little depleted at the minute, so apologies for lack of posts.  I always find I need new cleansers etc etc at this time of year having finished everything up but I'll have some new reviews for you soon!

In the meantime, I've been enjoying Ireland's uncharacteristicly warm summer weather.   I am in Dublin for a few days this week and visited Britta's Bay, the beautiful (and very windy!) beach.  These aren't great outfit posts, but it is very true to what I have been wearing the past few weeks.

Skirt:  Anthropologie (bought in the current sale online!)
T Shirt: Petit Bateau
Sunglasses: 1950s vintage

New York, New York!

Start spreading the news.. unfortunately I am not leaving today but I did visit the Big Apple for my 21st celebrations last month and thought I'd share a few photos! (more after 'read more'..)
It was really brillant and such lovely sunny weather.  I adore New York, every time I've been I've had a great time and done such different things to the last trip.  It's exhausting, frustrating, breathtaking and fun!

A few things we did included (eating our way around the city):

- Gorging ourselves in Marlow and Sons in Brooklyn...braised cherry salad, hudson valley vodka and chocolate caramel tart with sea salt.  Loved it!
-Trying the raved about pork buns and cereal flavoured milk at Momofuku milk bar
-Watching the Blades of Glory-esque display at the Rockefeller Ice Rink (hilarious)
-Admiring the many in bloom cherry blossoms in Central Park
-Seeing Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell in Martin McDonagh's Behanding of Spokane off Broadway anddd
-Going into every Sephora we passed!

Breakfast At Tiffanys in the QFT

Done anything fun lately?

I'm still living in the memories of my birthday celebrations in April, did I mention I got Tiffany?!  I also attended a Silver Screen event at the QFT with my Mum and Sister.  I really love the QFT and this was the first Silver Screen event they tried.

They served everyone tea in vintage china and made a MASS of cakes and buns to enjoy.  They then showed vintage movie trailers (rather hilarious) followed by the one and only Breakfast at Tiffanys.  And!  We were all back home in time for tea, how lovely!  I was also going to New York the very next day, which made the film even more suiting to the occasion!

I love Breakfast at Tiffanys the more I see it.  I'm sure it is no surprise that I think Audrey Hepburn beautiful, stylish and impossibly elegant.  The movie is just a wonderful indulgence: early 1960s New York, Audrey in that black dress (and don't forget the trench coat and my favourite sparkly pink number!), Henry Mancini's moonriver and romantic score and the cheesy, but beautiful, kiss in the rain.  A perfect Sunday afternoon movie to shed a silent tear over...

It was a really fun afternoon and I hope they have another one soon... look at all that cake!
